The Mental Health Association in Geauga County’s mission is to promote services and programs that are responsive to the mental health and chemical dependency needs of the citizens of Geauga County. In furtherance of this purpose, we shall:

  • Provide individual and group educational opportunities. Research, evaluate and disseminate relevant information, increase awareness of mental health and chemical dependency causes and issues. Address public perceptions of mental health and chemical dependency. Support and facilitate the programs, activities and services of public and private providers.
  • Foster public visibility of the Association as well as other community agencies.

The following is a list of the programs provided by the Mental Health Association in Geauga County:

The Facilitator contents include: current information about timely mental health topics and issues, community events, local mental health resources, profiles of local agencies, and articles offering tips on topics ranging from substance abuse to parenting to senior mental health issues. Call (440)285-3945 to sign up today. It's free to all Geauga residents through a grant from the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services.

The Panorama Newsletter - is co-produced with the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services, this newsletter covers both state and national trends in the mental health field.

The ParenTalk Newsletter is an educational newsletter mailed to most first time parents in Geauga County. Issues arrive to correspond with baby’s age and developmental stage. Topics cover developmental milestones, nutrition and changing family needs.


The Teddy Bear Patrol - provides Geauga County Emergency personnel such as firemen, county sheriff's department staff and police officers with teddy bears to give to children experiencing traumatic situations. The purpose is a comforting friend to hug when things are scary or painful. Funds for this program come from donations, fundraisers, small grants, and individual donors. If you would like to become involved in the Teddy Bear Patrol and/or to sponsor a teddy bear to comfort a child ($15) call the Mental Health Association in Geauga County at (440)285-3945.


The Very Important Kid Program - helps to support the development of self-esteem of Geauga County preschool age children. VIK offers teachers a variety of activities and lesson plans to reinforce the message that each child is special and unique. VIK is provided free to all Geauga County preschools through a grant from the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services. The VIK program is also available to preschools and Day Care centers in other counties. If you would like to have your child's preschool participate in this self-esteem building program, encourage them to contact us at (440)285-3945.
